Sania’s Malik Nets Sizzle Over Sayali!

It’s a sporting encounter of the romantic kind. Sania Mirza, Indian tennis ace, will tie the marital knot with Pak cricketing star, Shoaib Malik, on April 15 in Pakistan.

Barely had the news filtered in…. when tattletale fanzines and tabloids swung into action and are having a field day, blowing the lid off Malik’s amourous conquests.

Reportedly, Malik had already forged a marital alliance with Ayesha Siddique, a Hyderabad gal. Besides, Malik was also wooing a B Town babe: Sayali Bhagat a former Miss India. The goss first surfaced in 2008, when the Indian Premier League (IPL) was being launched. Emraan Hashmi’s co star in ‘The Train’ generated headlines, when their liaison came to light.

Bhagat’s quote that their varying religious faiths (she’s a Maharashtrian Hindu) would not come in the way of their marriage, though the distance could… had been splashed all over the Press.

Guess, Mirza’s mulling over it too…

Sonam Kapoor to play sports-star Sania Mirza onscreen

Filmmaker Anees Bazmee’s timing couldn’t be better. The director, who is known to churn some of the biggest hits in Bollywood, has found an apt subject in Sania Mirza for his next film.

The ace tennis sensation who is surrounded by much controversy at the moment, will soon have Sonam Kapoor enacting her life onscreen in Bazmee’s next ‘Thank You’. And thankfully, the film will be sans any sensationalism as it is set to be a romantic comedy.

Set to hit floor in mid April, the film will be shot in Canada. And even though the director is denying that Sania is the subject of his film, the striking similarities between Sonam’s role and Mirza’s life make Bazmee’s assertions tough to believe.

Confirming the news a source said, “Just like Sania, Sonam plays a young, attractive tennis champ and falls in love with a guy, who is completely wrong for her. She soon realises her mistake and turns back before it’s too late. Remember Sania calling off her engagement to Sohrab Mirza earlier this year before news of her impending marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik?”

Talking about the news, director Bazmee said, “Sonam does pay a tennis champ, and Akshay Kumar plays a guy who’s seeing 30-35 girls at the same time, until he meets Sonam. Though he gives up flirting, he’s not particularly serious about Sonam too. It’s a funny take on courtship.”

Sania to be second wife of Shoaib?

A day after television channels and newspapers carried the celebrity marriage report between Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik, problems have surfaced to haunt the couple. The Pakistani cricketer has not divorced a Hyderabadi woman who claims to be his first wife.

The father of Ayesha Siddiqui- the Hyderabad based girl who has in the past alleged that she was married to Shoaib, threatened to take legal action against the Pakistani cricketer.
Ayesha’s father said, “Shoaib must legally divorce her daughter only then he can marry Sania Mirza.” Shoaib had reportedly had married Ayesha in June 2002 through a telephonic nikah after having an online affair.

But things got spoiled between the two families over Ayesha’s plumpness and the wedding was called off. Shoaib had reportedly fell for Ayesha’s friend who he met in Dubai but the latter took up her friend’s alias and had an affair with the cricketer, reports claim.

Shoaib has repeatedly said that his was only an engagement with Ayesha and not nikah.

”I don’t know what to do with Shoaib’s lies apart from filing a case. I don’t want anything from him. We just want a letter of divorce for my daughter from him,” Ayesha’s father told Zee News. Only last night Sania’s media talk in Hyderabad was telecast live by most of the news channels across India and Pakistan and attracted immense interest.

Earlier, fans, friends and relatives of Malik had gathered outside his ancestral home in Sialkot and his residence in Lahore yesterday to celebrate after Sania confirmed she was getting married to the all-rounder on April 15.

“It is amazing to see how happy the people are with this alliance. They were outside our homes today in Sialkot and Lahore dancing, beating drums, distributing sweets and celebrating enthusiastically,” Imran Malik, Shoaib’s brother-in-law told agency.

He made it clear that neither Shoaib nor Sania wanted their union to be looked at as a political statement by the media or politicians.

Malik is presently serving a one-year ban but has been permitted to go and play in the Bangladesh’s domestic Twenty20 league being held in Sharjah where he is representing a Chittagong club.

He is set to lodge an appeal against his ban and fine of Rs two million once he returns from Sharjah.
